Earhquake Building Champs
Recently students in Earth Science applied their seismological knowledge and engineering skills as they created special models of building frames they hoped would remain standing during a major earthquake. Here is a photo of the 2008-2008 Earth Science Earthquake Building Challenge winner from our classroom contest. This model was designed and constructed by Isaac B., Shawn H., and Joe L. It's a little worse for wear and tear after being tested for many rounds on the earthquake shake table. It outlasted all of the other buildings from the 4th hour class and no other model this year was able to withstand as many weights. This framework was able to support 12 washers before finally collapsing. Congratulations to the winning team!
