The Sun Clock Projects have taken over our Earth Science classroom! If you haven't stopped by to see them they'll be here for one more week and they are definitely worth seeing this year. If you can't stop by check them out on the Benzie Central Earth Science Facebook Page where I am slowly uploading Sun Clock photos for all to enjpy. Mr. Olson, BCHS principal, shared a few Sun Clock photos on the Benzie County Central Schools website as well.

Comet Hartley 2 Approaches Earth
.
Comet Hartley is approaching Earth for an 11-million-mile close encounter on Oct. 20th. Although it is barely visible to the naked eye, the comet can be seen through binoculars & looks great through backyard telescopes. The best time to look is during the dark hours before sunrise when the comet is almost straight overhead in the constellation Perseus. Check Sky & Telescope for a sky map.

New Warm-up this Week
Students will become very familiar with this web-based application over the next two weeks as they plot tide data each day for their warm-up beginning on Tuesday. Seattle, Washington is located on the Puget Sound of the Pacific where the tide rises and falls twice a day, pulled by the gravitational forces of the moon and sun. A daily cycle along the Sound generally includes two unequal high tides and two unequal low tides.
