Polyphemus Moth
Danica S. brought this incredible Polyphemus Moth to school a few days ago. She found it on her wooded property. At the end of the day it was released. The Polyphemus Moth was named after the one-eyed Cyclops, Polyphemus, who traps Odysseus and his men in a cave in Greek mythology. The Polyphemus' eye-spots on its wings and its giant size reminded scientists of the Greek monster.
